Lowcliffe
Homestead

a home for generations

The new Rathmore Homestead set the challenge to design a home for today’s family and generations to come. Critical to this was a timeless aesthetic.

Traditional gable forms  with solid plaster rendered walls, slate styled roofing and natural timber highlights evoke this rural homestead aesthetic.

Sited along side the lake, the Home is accessed down a tree lined driveway and over the bridged stream.

The entrance portico leads into the gallery space that links the livings spaces that orientate east-west to maximize the norther aspect to the sun.

The open plan Kitchen Dining Living space links to the Formal Dining and Lounge  housed in the central gable.

The east wing house the Farm Office, Garaging, Laundry and Mudroom. A self contained flat  over the garaging uses dormer gable windows for daylight and outlook.

The western wing houses the Master Suite, Guest Suite and two additional bedrooms with adjoining bathroom.

The Living spaces, Master and Guest Suites all open out to the north facing terrace with covered outside living spaces out accessed from the open plan Living space and Formal Lounge. The terrace leads onto the established gardens and lake.
