Timaru Business Hub
— More info
linking the streetscape
The Timaru Business Hub was conceived when the original building on the site was deemed earthquake prone and unsuitable for strengthening.
Two key aspects drove the design. Firstly, maximising the northern orientation and outlook to Caroline Bay. Secondly, its corner location bridging the historic streetscape along Stafford Street with the contemporary built forms on Sefton Street. These two streetscapes having little in common in form, scale and detail.
The design solution extends the scale of both streetscapes toward the street corner that act as anchors to a curved corner focal point. The curved glass facade acts as a neutral juncture of the two streetscapes with the second floor cantilevering over the street to celebrate the union.
